International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples

International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples

The United Nations General Assembly, in its resolution 49/214 of 23 December 1994, designated 9 August of each year as the International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples. This day is an occasion to remember the suffering and struggles of these peoples for their cultural, economic, social, and environmental rights.

On this occasion, we salute the resilient Amazigh people throughout Tamazgha and the diaspora, and we call upon them to remain vigilant and united in order to protect our identity and strengthen awareness of it.
